Technology: Online File Storage

Cloud Storage

There are several options for online “cloud” storage. If you have a Gmail account, you already have Google Drive storage. You are able to sign up for OneDrive through Microsoft, and there is Drop Box.

These cloud storage options use your internet connect to save documents, pictures, programs, etc. You are able to download the storage option, and you are able to access it through either a shortcut on your desktop, or through the windows explorer.

On the Go

Each of these cloud storage offer a very helpful feature of being mobile. You are able to download apps for your mobile devices (both cell phone and tablets), so you are able to access your documents while on the go.

These apps can be found at the Google Play store as well as on iTunes.

You are also about to share files with people without emailing the actually document. The online storage allows you to email a link, or add a person as an authorized editor so they are able to work on documents together.

Google Drive

Google Drive is powered by Google (of course).  You start with 15 GB of free online Storage space, plus the use of Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps. That way if you do not have the Microsoft Office products on your computer or device you are able to still edit and access your files.

Google states: "Your file security is crucial. That’s why every file in Drive stays safe no matter what happens to your smartphone, tablet or computer. Drive is encrypted using SSL, the same security protocol used on Gmail and other Google services."

If you need more storage space, Google does offer plans were you can purchase more space. They also have offers for some devices that allow you to get more space for free (check it out here).

OneDrive

OneDrive comes with Office Online, so you can create, edit, and share documents regardless of the type of device your working on. You start with 15 GB of free storage, and offer plans so you can purchase additional storage. You can earn extra storage too.15 GB earned in extra 15 GB of storage when you backup your camera roll to your OneDrive. You are able to earn when referring friend to OneDrive. Both of you will get an extra 500 MB, and you can refer up to 10 friends for a maximum of 5 GB.

OneDrive has a list of apps that work with OneDrive as well. SO if you are using apps currently and need a place to store items, check out the app list here.

DropBox

DropBox has many of the same features listed above. You start with 2 GB free space, and can pay for more space if you need it. You are able to automatically back up your camera photos. I have yet to find a way to get additional storage free from DropBox.

Hope you have enjoyed reading!!

Self Improvement: Building a Successful Workout

The Next Step in Self Improvement is Working Out

The next big step to take in creating overall self improvement is to create a workout plan that you can stick to. I have tried this many times, but the problem is I lose focus on sticking to it, and try to over do myself and make unrealistic goals.

What is a Safe goal

I started my process this time by learning what the safe goal is. I did this with the help (again) of SparkPeople. I used their fitness tracker to know about much much time to schedule as well as a goal of calories burned. I also used their site to help pick out workouts and create groupings to make entering them easier. You are able to search and add different works and see where it puts you for the day and week.
When I created my workout plan, I created two different routines. One for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and one for Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. I used Sunday as a relax day. This way I could do different workouts and not get bored with the routines.

My Workouts

On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday my workout is as follows:
  • Yoga - 40 minutes, burning an average of 212 calories
  • Crunches - 3 sets of 15, in about 8 minutes, burning 37 calories
  • Pushups - 3 sets of 15, in about 8 minutes, burning 35 calories

On Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday my workout is as follows:
  • Yoga - 15 minutes, burning an average of 80 calories
  • Crunches - 3 sets of 15, in about 8 minutes, burning 37 calories
  • Pushups - 3 sets of 15, in about 8 minutes, burning 35 calories

Which means I work out for about 261 minutes a week, burning 1004 calories a week. This is slightly over the goal SparksPeople has set for me, but that is OK, because I have a hard time eating within the calorie limits, so it balances.

Yoga

I picked yoga as an excessive because it has many benefits. It is not only a workout, but a spiritual activity as well. I am a plus size person, so the stretching is very beneficial. I have download a few free apps that have some great yoga works and programs.

Staying With it

The hardest part of a workout plan is sticking with it. there always seems to be an excuse as to why you can't workout. Usually something along the lines of there is no time, I forgot, or I am just to tired already. I have tried to come up with a way to combat these excusess.

I have picked workout routines that for the most part burn calories without taking a lot of time. Being
that I have a schedule of what workouts I want to do when, I can add them to my Google Calendar, so I get a reminder, and I can't schedule something when I should be working out. Since my calendar is synced with my mobile phone, I am able to see and remember that there is a workout coming up and get ready for it.

I hope this helps you on your journey to self improvement!! Please feel free to leave any comment, questions, or suggestions on my Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Youtube, Google+, or Email me!! I always look forward to feedback!!
